I don’t think he is distancing himself from nature photography at all. I think this new body of work is so different from anything he has done to date that he feels releasing it under his name will make it a harder sell to the clientele it could appeal to. Trust me he is still a very active nature photographer with many other projects he is working on.

I find it a bit ironic that while the title of this post is “I interview legendary nature photographer Art Wolfe”, from the contents of the interview, Art Wolfe himself would like to distance himself from his own legend as a nature photographer, presumably to gain more acceptance in the “art world” which has not been very kind to nature photographers.
