The name “Big Sur” is derived from the original Spanish-language “el sur grande”, meaning “the big south”. It encompasses a 90 mile stretch of coastline in central California between Carmel and San Simeon. Big Sur is known for it’s spectacularly rugged coastline with the cool blue waters of the Pacific to the west and the Santa Lucia Mountains that rise abruptly to the east. This unique geology gives way to arid, dusty chaparral-covered hills that are within easy walking distance of lush riparian woodlands. The massive mountains immediately to the east capture and hold the oncoming moisture creating extremely dramatic landscape imagery. This workshop will have us searching out dramatic vistas, intimate forests full of fog layden firs and oaks, and the endangered California Condor.
Join Jay and Gavriel Jecan as they bring a group to this stunningly beautiful and amazingly diverse area of California. Mornings and evenings will have participants in search of mood, composition, flora, and fauna. During Mid-day hours Gavriel and Jay will discuss compositional techniques, Lightroom tricks, the power of Photoshop, and many other topics to get participants excited to explore and photograph here and beyond.
Due to the changing weather of this magnificant location Jay and Gavriel will post a day-to-day itinerary. Some of the locations we will journey to will include:
The course fee covers all instruction.
