Join Art and Jay on an exciting four-day workshop in Moab, UT photographing the beautiful rock formations and dynamic landscapes. Learn Art’s world-renowned approach to photographing nature coupled with Jay’s extensive photography experience and insight. A new addition that we are offering to be included is a thorough instruction on Adobe’s Lightroom. Jay has designed an in-depth class in Lightroom that he teaches and will be incorporating it into the evening and mid-day lecture portions of the workshop.
Managing, organizing, and archiving images has become one of the photographer’s biggest challenges in digital photography. Adobe’s Photoshop Lightroom has become the workflow solution for many photographers. This portion of the workshop is designed to get you up to speed using Lightroom and give you a thorough understanding of these topics: using catalogs to manage your images and using the develop module to optimize your images. Our Lightroom course will cover all aspects of workflow from taking the picture through the Lightroom workflow as well as the intricacies and integration in working with Photoshop.
For this portion of the workshop students should bring:
Generally we request that the participants arrive the evening before the workshop begins to ensure an early start the following day. The group will meet either at the hotel lodge or at a specified restaurant for a meet and greet. This will give everyone an opportunity to introduce themselves, and will give Art an opportunity to give everyone a brief description of the proposed itinerary. The schedule is still subject to change due to the weather conditions.
A detailed itinerary will be provided to all of the participants with a packet of information prior to the workshop.
Here is a brief itinerary to provide an idea of what to expect:
Day 1: The first lecture is scheduled after breakfast on the first day. From there the group will head out into the field. Once the group returns to the hotel there will be a lecture on Lightroom, this is a perfect opportunity to learn the proper procedure for importing your images.
Day 2: The second day is subject to change. Provided the weather is nice there will be an entire day spent in the field. The group will convene in a previously specified location, and will head into the field together. If the weather is less than optimal, Art will opt to teach a classroom lecture for the first portion of the day. Once again there will be an early evening lecture on lightroom. This will give everyone an opportunity to catalog and process images from the previous days shooting.
Day 3: The third day will begin with lecture and a critique. This is an excellent opportunity to learn from each others images while Art discusses what actions could have been taken to ensure a better image. It is great to have this opportunity when there is still another day of shooting ahead.
Day 4: The forth day will begin with a field session in the first half of the day. The group will return in time for check-out and will finish off the day with a classroom lecture.
All aspects of outdoor photography will be covered including composition, field techniques, technology, and the unique philosophy of this highly specialized profession. There will be informative lectures, rigorous critiques and portfolio reviews. Instead of concentrating on f-stops and equipment, we will work on composition, imagination, and the control of every element in the image. Their goals are no less than to change the way you see.
Utilizing his formal training as a teacher, Art will work closely with participants to ensure they come away with new skills and tangible experience in the field as well as inspiration to take their photography to the next level. Shooting schedules have the ability to be altered to effectively cater to the photographic desires of the group.
Participants are responsible for their own transportation to Moab, lodging and meals. There will be a shuttle van provided once the workshop begins. The group will ride together for all field instruction.
The course fee covers all instruction.
PRICE: $3750.00 for new clients, $3500.00 for returning clients.
